NORTH TAMPA AREA: A-24 Hour Bait & Tackle, (813) 989-2248: Good speckled perch catches reported. These specks are full of roe and are expect to bed soon. Catfish continue to be caught in large numbers. Bluegill catches remain very good.
KISSIMMEE CHAIN: Grape Hammock Fish Camp, (863) 692-1500: Specks continue to be caught, but not in large numbers. Bass catches have improved with the water conditions. A recent bass tournament took 18 pounds to win, and the big bass was almost 7 pounds.
LAKE ISTOKPOGA: Henderson's Fish Camp, guide Mike Bennis, (863) 465-9481: Bass are being caught on the north and south ends of the lake. Flip and worm the hydrilla and the edges. Some speckled perch are being caught, but not in large numbers.
LAKE PLACID/LORIDA-ISTOKPOGA: LORIDA IS CQ Trails End Fish Camp, (863) 655-0134: Big bass were taken in the canal on shiners. Artificial lures also took high numbers of bass. No one fished for specks but they can be caught.
OKEECHOBEE, THE WEST WALL: Glen Hunter Guide Service, 1-800-541-7541: Big bass to 7 pounds are usually part of a day's catch. The Rim Canal is still a great place to catch them. Some bluegill still are being caught.
LAKE PANASOFFKEE: Pana Vista Lodge, (352) 793-2061: Even though we are on the tail end of the season, bluegill and shellcracker still are being caught. Some anglers are taking their limits. Bass action in the ""new water'' formed by high water is steady.

10,000 ISLANDS AND BACK COUNTRY FISHING: Captain Tom Haynes, (813) 973-0774: Snook and redfish in the 10,000 Islands are busting out all over. One day's catch took 23 snook, 20 redfish, one tarpon and several trout. Live bait rules and there is plenty of it.
SARASOTA: On the water with captain Rick Grasset, (941) 923-7799: Grasset's crew took 15 trout to 18 inches and two redfish on Cal Jigs in Sarasota Bay.
BRADENTON: Perico Harbor Bait & Tackle, (941) 795-8433: Snook, trout,redfish and Spanish mackerel are being caught. Snook are biting on the outgoing tide. All you have to do is figure out which 20 minutes during the tide they feed.
UPPER TAMPA BAY: Denny B's Quality Bait & tackle, (813) 885-9811: Snook to 30 inches and lots of redfish are being caught. Many are undersized. Shrimp and pinfish are taking most of these fish.
SOUTH PINELLAS: Captain Paul Hawkins, (727) 560-6762: Fish the outgoing tide for tarpon. Tarpon are still a great catch, but not for much longer. Mangrove snapper are in the ships channel. Mackerel are everywhere. Snook and redfish are very available.
SKYWAY, UPPER BAY AND OFFSHORE: Captain James Wisner, (813) 831-5659: Find the shad schools and you will find tarpon. Mackerel are an easy catch on the beaches and in the bay. Some small kingfish are showing.
GANDY BAIT & TACKLE: (813) 839-5551: Snook and redfish have been eating shrimp. Mangrove snapper are still a great catch. Bluefish are up in the bay. Fish the Weedon Island area for excellent redfish catches.
CLEARWATER: Captain Richard Howard, (727) 446-8962: Fish the barrier islands for trout. Mackerel are most anywhere you fish. Redfish and snook are in the usual places and are taking live greenbacks. Chum or troll for mackerel.
PALM HARBOR: Captain Wendell Akins, Drifter Charter Fishing, (727) 785-3018: Set up just east of Dunedin Reef for a great mackerel catch. The larger mackerel are here. Snook are scattered along the beaches and passes.
TARPON SPRINGS: Snook and redfish are in small to large schools in the usual places. Fish the rising tide for reds and the outgoing tide for snook. In the back bays, both can be caught on the high tide.
SPRING HILL: Tim Farley, First Mate Tackle, (352) 684-2200: Fish Fillman bayou for redfish. Trout are 5 to 7 miles out on the deep flats. Grouper fishing is good if the weather is too.
HERNANDO BEACH: Hernando Beach Bait & Tackle, (352) 596-3375: The Thunder, a head boat, took 20 grouper on one trip. Winds have curtailed some grouper anglers. On the inside, jacks, drum and redfish are being caught. Grouper are being caught in 18 to 32 feet of water. Fish the flats for trout and the inshore river and waterway for redfish.
